Golfweek’s Best in Canada: Canadian Rockies Golf Courses Earn Distinction Once Again
Golfweek’s annual “Best Courses in Canada” rankings were released this week and once again Alberta Canadian Rockies Golf courses were well represented.
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course (No. 1) and The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course (No. 3) remained in the top 3 of the prestigious “Classic” rankings, for courses that opened before 1960.
In the “Modern” rankings (courses that opened after 1960), Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club moved up two spots to No. 27.
Golfweek Senior Travel Editor Marty Kaufmann visited the Canadian Rockies area and wrote this about Stewart Creek and Silvertip Golf Course:
“Stewart Creek Golf Club, just south of Canmore, and Silvertip, on the east side of town, check off all the boxes for golfers and resort guests. The architecture is flashy, as are the amenities. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better 19th-hole experience than Silvertip’s Rustica restaurant, where guests can cut the beef with a butter knife and sip on a locally brewed Powder Hound Pilsner while gazing up the 18th fairway at the sheer rock face of Mount Lady MacDonald.”
But don’t take Golfweek’s word for it. Visit the Canadian Rockies this spring or summer and take advantage of the array of value-laden stay-and-play packages available, including the Heritage Helicopter Tour Package. Starting at $674 per person, the package includes four nights accommodation, two rounds of golf and a mind-blowing helicopter tour of the area. Don’t forget the camera!
